As many members know, we have been very lucky to have Stephen Tudor as Chair of the UK IRC committee, which has been a huge help in securing IRC events away from the Solent, and overseeing the introduction of the YTC rating scheme, to help provide a rating system at little or no cost for club racing.
Stephen has always supported those new to racing and cemented this ethos into the IRC committee.
on behalf of CHPSC thankyou for your hard work representing us

After the demise of our racing hut in Storm Daragh in December 2024, it has been a gradual task to rebuild the facilities.

First of all thanks again to Gimblet Rock Holiday Park who paid for our new shed.
Without this and club members and volunteers who erected it in March 2025, we just wouldn’t have a racing bridge at all.
Thanks to everyone involved.

Huge thanks, of course, to Robin who gives so much of his time every year to manage our racing but we do realise that he does have a life outside of sailing too, so during this summer more volunteers have been at work.
With new technology available these days we now have the makings of an automated race officer, for when Robin is busy or away on some much needed R&R.

Thanks to our volunteers who braved the extreme summer heat to put this in place.
Thanks also to Yr Olygfa - The View for their very welcome, very much needed (and unexpected) refreshments for our volunteers.
With the Autumn series now underway, it has been the ideal time to test it out and adapt to the new technology. As a result of these there has been the need to make an amendment to the general SI’s (Below).
We’ll continue to monitor and adapt as we go along so keep an eye out for more info on our website. If you fancy getting involved in race management, even if it is simply to give our race officers some company while watching the racing, please get in touch. We always need new members and more volunteers. There is truly something for everyone.
The following is added to point 11.1:
OCS under Automated Race Officer – Start line videos will be inspected after racing and any boat found to be over at the start will be given a 5% time penalty applied to their elapsed time in that race.
It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of our former Commodore and friend, Dave Hulse. The club flags have been set at half‑mast in his honour.
Our thoughts are with Mair and the family at this difficult time. Our Commodore has written to Mair to convey the condolences of all members of the club.
Funeral arrangements will be posted here when they are published.

Chris Jones and Gareth Jones-Davis have returned to Italy and after a series of qualifying races, are now through to Il Veloce.
The guys are yet again flying the flag for Pwllheli and are racing as Team Red Dragon.
The race, a non-stop 1500nm race from Genoa round Italy and Sicily to Trieste, starts at 14:00 on Friday 25th September and is likely to take them between 10-14 days to complete.
Well done guys! Fair winds for the race.
The Autumn Challenge Series 2026 has started and what a fabulous weekend it was.
There's still more fun to be had with scoring in YTC and IRC so racing for everyone.
Come and join us.

Well done to Chris Jones and Gareth Jones Davis, who competed in the two handed Marina militare nastro rosa il Giro d'Italia 2026.
They competed for team Verein Seglerhaus AM, sailing the 7th leg of the series, 224nm from Napoli to Portoferraio on one of the Figaro 3s.
Stephen Tudor and Mark Thompson's J70 Sgrech Bach lead the series after weekend 3 of the Summer Series.
Last weekend saw them face their youngest opponents yet. Judging by the smiles on the faces of our little Pwllheli sailors, I think they all enjoyed it and we look forward to seeing them out there again soon.
