Long Trophy 2010 winners Pwllheli Sailing Club   Full results

Congratulations to the Pwllheli team on winning the Long Trophy this year.

The first two races were in Pwllheli on Saturday with a strong northerly wind and relatively flat seas providing ideal racing conditions under blue skies and fantastic scenery. Racing was very close with Mohito and Xpletive leading but with everything to play for on Sunday.

The racing on Sunday was in Abersoch in gentler conditions but again with superb blue skies, scenery and perfect racing conditions. The wind again from the north west and with challenging shifts.

The results are amazing with the top three boats on equal points - Sable taking the top spot on the ‘count back’ scoring  principles. Calculating the overall position showed the importance of fielding a full team so a special thanks to the crèche on Scallywag for turning up on Sunday for Pwllheli.

The results confirm that the racing was very close and competitive with only seconds between race positions. Arfon Jones’ Filthy Gorgeous, who notched up her first race win on Sunday also taking line honours in race three.  Filthy Gorgeous also preformed a ‘man over board’ procedure to recover Dez who lost his footing during a spinnaker take down on the first downwind leg of the first race. Dez agreed to finish the race and took part in the next race although a bit damp!

Thanks to everyone who took part and also to Robin at Pwllheli and Catherine at Abersoch for their work and race management duties.
