CHPSC Racing schedule 2026
The 2026 race programme has been designed to meet the increased interest in Club Racing and we aim to provide racing to meet everyone's needs, IRC, YTC, sport-boats and white sail class. See the full list of SSIs here
Whether you are a regular racer, new to racing or interested in trying your first race, we would love to hear from you and answer any queries. Below is the 2026 schedule - if you have any questions or suggestions about it, please get in touch. If there is sufficient interest, we can also arrange additional race weekends - just let us know.
We look forward to seeing you out on the water and in the Club.
We aim to have a pre-race weekend gathering on Friday nights so that you can discuss tactics and plan your racing. There will also be a post-race gathering so that crew can share experiences in a friendly environment.
NB. The event and training pontoons offer an ideal base for racing and further information about these facilities are available on the Plas Heli web site.

Amendments
Amendment 1 (25th March 2026 )
Spring weekend 3 (23rd & 24th May) is changed to run in conjunction with SCYC. More details to follow.
Amendment 2 (25th March 2026 )
First warning signal for the 27th June race changed from 0955 to 0800.
Amendment 3 (13th April 2026 )
First warning signal for the 18th April race changed from 0900 to 0800.

Sailing season is upon us!
Sitting watching snow falling just a couple of days ago and it was hard to believe that our sailing season is almost upon us. Our racing marks are once again bobbing in the bay and waiting to welcome us around various courses.
This year we have an exciting program, and are looking forward to working with both South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club (SCYC) and the Irish Sea Offshore Racing Association (ISORA) to bring variety and fun in the bay.

The Annual General Meeting will take place on the 18th April 2026 at 15:30 in Plas Heli.
The agenda is as per the notice issued in February, with the only change being the date, and is pasted below for reference.

Pwllheli boats complete the RORC Caribbean 600

Congratulation's to the crew and skipper's of Jackknife, Mojito and Faenol, completing the Caribbean 600 race, starting and finishing in Antigua, with Mojito on the class 2 podium. Enjoy the rum!

Commodore's Newsletter February 2026

Dear members and friends,
Well, I would have liked to have wished you all a warm welcome to February, but it is in fact still quite cold! But nonetheless, the snowdrops are peeping out in quite a lot of places and that can only mean one thing……it’s time to get boats ready for and start planning the season!
In fact, some of our race fleet have already sneaked ahead of us to the warmer weather in the Caribbean, and I’m excited to say, we have three boats representing us in various different events to and over in the Caribbean, culminating in what will hopefully be a successful RORC Caribbean 600.
Andrew & Sam Hall and the Jackknife crew have had a busy start to the year with an excellent result in the RORC Transatlantic race in January, finishing a fantastic 1st in class and 3rd overall. Well done Team Jackknife! We were all glued to our YB apps and the local TV coverage, all the time and are very proud and pleased for you!
Faenol, having headed to the Caribbean in late 2025, got a bit of early Caribbean practice in The Round Barbados race, part of Barbados Sailing Week, and are now in Antigua awaiting the arrival of the rest of the fleet.
And Mojito departed early January, from Southampton, Antigua bound, by ship, followed this week by Team Mojito….hoping to be ready for Antigua race week to precede the RORC Caribbean 600.
The very best of luck to all the skippers and crews, we will be following your every tack! Sail hard, sail fast but most of all sail safe!
Back here in the UK, it’s great to see the boatyards springing to life with work parties, familiar faces appearing in the bar at weekends, and of course the six nations is being shown on the big screen! It’s a great time to remember that your membership needs renewing, as the membership uplifts for bar cards have now been turned off for those who haven’t renewed.
Please also remember to pay for any storage compound fees, as we have now started disposing of some of the older boats that haven’t been paid for…for a considerable time! Also, after the storms of the past couple of years, we are now requiring that dinghies left in there for any length of time, are left without rigs up, as these are more prone to being blown over and damaging other boats.
Calendars are still plentiful for collection and can be collected at Plas Heli, by arrangement, or we can arrange for them to be collected at some of the boatyards and marine traders.
Finally, a reminder of our AGM and our first social of the year, CHPSC Fitting Out Supper, on the 28th March. Last years was a lovely evening and a great opportunity to see and catch up with old and new faces after a long winter….hope to see you there!
